How the NETZER GROUP was able to save 50 percent energy when cleaning containers

In a recently completed project for Grieshaber GmbH, the NETZER GROUP has shown how intelligent plant engineering can achieve considerable energy savings. The company implemented a two-stage heat recovery system as part of the cleaning of 900 chrome steel containers used in pharmaceutical logistics.

This technology uses the waste heat from the cleaning process to reduce the energy required to treat the water. The result: impressive energy savings of 50 percent. This progress is not only a benefit for operating costs, but also a decisive contribution to environmental protection.

Responsibility:
Total contractor
Implementation time:
(planning + implementation) 1 year
room area:

2 clean rooms with a total of 600m² for around 900 vessels or cryo-containers filled with active ingredient, which are transported refrigerated between different production sites in the Boehringer Biopharma network. After the active ingredient has been emptied, the containers return to the VMC, where they are cleaned centrally and serviced or repaired if necessary. This means that the cryogenic containers can be delivered to the relevant production sites on time and as required for their next use.
